Mini-ITX is an ultra-compact (6.7 x 6.7 in.) mainboard form-factor developed by Via Technologies Inc. Mini-ITX targets a new generation of quiet, small footprint, connected, information and entertainment systems and enables the creation of an exciting new generation of small, ergonomic, innovative, and affordable embedded systems through its high level of integration and vastly reduced size of less than 33% that of the FlexATX mainboard form-factor. Mini ITX small form factor systems are small, power efficient, stable and offer distinct advantages over the ATX standard:

Car PC Platform

In a mobile environment (12V, DC), a car computer system powered through the cigarette lighter adapter will shut down whenever the ignition is turned off. Computers repeatedly shut down in this way can experience problems. An intelligent car power supply, by contrast, uses a power sequencing function to gently shut the computer down when the car is turned off. An intelligent car power supply can also be configured to allow the computer to run when the car is off while protecting the car battery with an automatic shutdown mechanism.
